Mallorca’s Sóller train brings games and sea science aboard
Mallorca’s Sóller train becomes a place for science talks on Saturday: researchers will explain how video games can help pupils work on emotions and how the sea changes the Balearic coast. It is the fifth Ciència a tot tren, with short talks about research taking place in Balearic laboratories.
Jorge Oceja and M. Miquela Benlloch of the University of the Balearic Islands will discuss using games to develop emotional, social and civic skills in the classroom. Àngels Fernàndez-Mora will explain how waves, storms and tsunamis reshape the coast. Other talks will cover uses for coffee-plant waste and take a critical look at bacteria that eat plastic.
In Sóller, Mallorca, participants can visit the Balearic Museum of Natural Sciences and the Sóller Botanical Garden for free. The university is organising the event with the Balearic delegation of Spain’s National Research Council.
