Mallorca seasonal workers get no-appointment option
Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands: some seasonal workers can register as jobseekers without an appointment when the annual sign-up opens on 13 October. The Balearic Islands Employment Service (SOIB) runs the scheme for people whose permanent contracts pause between seasons, known as fijo-discontinuo contracts, and for workers finishing seasonal jobs. Registration runs until 31 January 2027.
Appointments, including on the day
Workers who need an appointment can use a new booking platform. It shows available slots across all SOIB offices in real time, including same-day slots where there is space. SOIB has added 28 staff to its offices for the campaign. It handled 82,553 appointments during the previous one.
Who can sign up without a slot
The appointment-free route is for people who have registered with SOIB before. They must complete an individual preliminary unemployment-benefit application in their personal account on the Spanish State Public Employment Service website. SOIB then sends a confirmation text message with information on checking when they next need to renew their jobseeker registration.
Anyone registering with SOIB for the first time must book an appointment. So must foreign workers who have not reported the renewal of their residence or work permit.
