Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands record an average of 109,483 self-employed social security registrations in October 2026, up 3,307 on a year earlier. The 3.11% rise is the strongest year-on-year gain in the first ten months of 2026, the Balearic regional labour department said on 5 November. The Spanish Social Security Treasury compiled the figures, which the Balearic Labour Observatory analysed.

October’s total is still down by 809 registrations, or 0.73%, from September. But growth against the same month a year earlier has gathered pace each month, from 2.2% in June to 3.11% in October. The islands have now recorded ten straight months with more self-employed registrations than in the corresponding month of 2025.

That annual rise outpaces Spain’s 2.31%. Self-employed registrations make up 16.8% of all social security registrations in the Balearics, compared with 15.5% across Spain.
