Mallorca’s senior stays bring 1,000 older islanders to Cala Mandia, Mallorca, for three-day breaks across October. They can choose walks and dancing in the morning, then yoga or music bingo in the afternoon. The Mallorca Island Council says the places were spread across several groups.

The morning programme also includes exercise sessions. Afternoons offer Zumba, Pilates and ballroom dancing, while talks and shows are held in the evenings.

The council pays 75 per cent of the cost. Each stay includes all-inclusive accommodation and three days of activities. The council says the programme aims to help older people on the island spend time together and take part in leisure activities.

The Cala Mandia stays fill the last of the 2,000 places offered this year. Another 1,000 people took part in March, when the first stays were held in the Colònia de Sant Jordi, Mallorca.
