Peanut alert: Sensation banana ice cream contains peanut
A batch of Sensation banana and brownie ice cream contains peanut ice cream, and people with peanut allergy are being told not to eat it. The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) issued the warning on Friday after health authorities in the Community of Madrid passed on the alert. The affected product is sold in a 300-gram plastic tub.
The tub is labelled as banana and brownie ice cream, but its contents are peanut ice cream. The lid carries the peanut ice cream information.
The warning covers Sensation's “Helado sabor plátano y brownie” with batch number L-6224 and a best-before date of 12/08/2028. AESAN says the product poses no risk to people without a peanut allergy.
The company found the mistake through its own checks and notified the authorities. The alert has been sent through SCIRI, Spain's coordinated rapid information exchange system, so the affected tubs can be checked for removal from sale.
