Mallorca’s September heat breaks local records: Capdepera, on the island, averages 26.6°C for the month, while rainfall comes in 16% below usual. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says September 2026 is the Balearic Islands’ second-warmest September since 1961. Pollença and Llucmajor also set records for their monthly average temperatures, at 25.3°C and 25.8°C respectively.

Across Mallorca, the monthly average is 24.7°C, or 2.6°C above usual. Warm nights stand out too. Aemet classifies every night in Capdepera that month as a tropical night, along with many nights in Banyalbufar, Palma and Sóller.

Mallorca receives an average of 55 litres of rain per square metre, against the usual 65 litres per square metre. Aemet still classes the month’s rainfall on the island as normal. Menorca is much drier, with 3.4 litres per square metre against a usual 60.

The month also brings a violent storm across Mallorca. A gust reaches 158 kilometres per hour in Banyalbufar; on the same day, gusts reach 109 kilometres per hour in Capdepera and 94 kilometres per hour in Palma.
