Balearic service sales fall as rest of Spain grows
Mallorca is part of Spain’s only region where service-sector sales fall in August: turnover across the Balearic Islands drops 0.3% from August 2025. Across Spain, sales rise 6%. Spain’s National Statistics Institute published the figures on Friday, 16 October 2026.
The August dip comes despite growth so far this year. Balearic service turnover is up 1.4% since the start of 2026, compared with 5.5% across Spain. The islands’ service-sector employment index changes by 1.9% from August 2025.
Nationally, service sales have now risen year on year for 29 consecutive months. In August, trade sales grow 7.2%, while sales in other services grow 4.1%.
