Esporles tenders new Ses Rotgetes water well
Esporles Council in Mallorca launched a tender on 21 August 2026 for a new groundwater well at Ses Rotgetes, aiming to strengthen supplies to the Ses Rotgetes and Jardín de Flores residential areas. The scheme follows the failure of the second existing well, which has put the availability of sufficient water for the area at risk.
The contract is valued at €97,948 under a simplified open procedure. Bidders have until 15:00 on 16 September 2026 to submit offers.
Drilling planned on municipal land
The well is planned on the municipally owned Ses Rotgetes site and will serve the local population. It is designed to reach a depth of up to 280 metres, using rotary percussion drilling with direct circulation.
The Directorate General for Water Resources approved the borehole last Friday, according to the council. Funding comes from the 2024 grant programme for securing urban drinking-water supplies in Mallorca’s municipalities.
Test will establish output
Once the contract has been awarded and work begins, drilling is expected to take between five and ten days. A subsequent pumping test will assess the volume of water the new well can provide.
The permitted annual volume and maximum instantaneous pumping rate will be set after that test. The council says the project is intended to expand its own water resources and provide a more stable supply for Ses Rotgetes and Jardín de Flores.
