Mallorca sewage plants get €23.92m for Calvià
Calvià on Mallorca is set to receive €23.92 million to keep its municipal wastewater treatment plants maintained and running from 2027 to 2029. On Friday 18 September, the Balearic Government’s Council of Government approved the funding for Calvià Town Hall. The money is intended to cover the upkeep, maintenance and operation of the service.
Government spokesman Antoni Costa said the annual contribution comes to €7.9 million and will be transferred monthly. The payments follow Decree 25/1992 of 12 March, which covers compensation for councils and other public bodies meeting the cost of the service.
Calvià applied for the support in March 2026. Its submission included a cost study, the municipal council’s agreement, papers on the direct management of the service and details of income received.
After reviewing the documents and further information from Calvià 2000, the Directorate General for Water Resources put the justified annual amount at €7.97 million. The planned allocation is €7.3 million in 2027, followed by €7.97 million in both 2028 and 2029, with a further €664,567 due in 2030.
The Balearic Government says the contribution will keep the funding in place for Calvià to maintain and operate its municipal wastewater treatment facilities.
