Mallorca festivals add 97 sexual violence help points
Mallorca will set up 97 information, support and awareness points at municipal festivals in 2026 under its No i Punt! campaign against sexual violence. The Consell de Mallorca says 89 festivals have already used response protocols. Three incidents have been dealt with so far this year, with police and emergency services coordinated where needed and people referred to relevant support services.
The new total is 41 higher than last year’s 56 points. The island council says the points are intended to give people a place to get information or seek help during festivals.
Training reaches 574 people
By August, No i Punt! had run 30 training sessions for 574 people, a rise of 155 per cent on the previous year. The sessions cover how to prevent and spot sexual violence, and how those involved should act together if an incident occurs.
A total of 355 young people took part, including young people involved in organising festivals. Training is also aimed at municipal technical and political staff, festival committees and organisers, local police, civil protection teams, bar staff and workers at leisure venues.
Campaign spreads across Mallorca
For 2024 to 2027, 51 Mallorca municipalities and the smaller local entity of Palmanyola have signed up to run the campaign. That compares with 20 municipalities in 2023.
By 23 August, 5,041 people had received information about No i Punt! through festival points. The spaces also provide details of the Consell de Mallorca’s support services for people with a personal concern or one affecting someone close to them.
