Mallorca social housing support lapses, PSIB says
Vulnerable families on Mallorca are going without professional help with social housing, the PSIB says: the contract for the service expired on 31 August. The socialists made the claim in Palma, Mallorca, on 26 October. The programme, run by the Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs (IMAS), was based in Inca, Mallorca.
Island councillor Sofia Alonso said the second extension of the contract with Provivienda had ended and IMAS had yet to put a replacement out to tender. She accused the island government of failing to plan for the expiry, leaving families without the support they had received.
PSIB spokeswoman Catalina Cladera called for the service to return urgently. She said professional help made it easier for vulnerable people to escape social exclusion. The party is also asking for a clear timetable for when support will resume.
