Mallorca’s permanent seasonal staff see SOIB slots live
Mallorca’s workers on permanent seasonal contracts can now see available appointments in real time and book a phone or face-to-face slot. The system opens on Tuesday, 13 October, across the Balearic Islands. María Luján Olivera, director of the Balearic Islands Employment Service (SOIB), outlined it in Palma, Mallorca.
Find a slot, then book it
Workers enter their postcode, choose the service they need and select a date and time. Confirmation arrives by phone or email. They can book through the SOIB website or app, or call 900101951.
Olivera expects a wait of about eight days for workers on permanent seasonal contracts. To handle the campaign, which runs until 31 January, the SOIB has added 28 people to its offices: 22 temporary staff and six extra support staff.
Some jobseekers can skip the appointment
People already registered with the SOIB can reactivate their jobseeker registration online, without booking a slot or visiting an office. They then receive confirmation with the details needed to find the document showing when to renew their registration.
First-time registrants still need an appointment. So do foreign workers who have not reported the renewal of their residence or work permit. Unemployment benefit claims go through the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), which also offers a way to register as a jobseeker.
