Mallorca solar park seeks €2.7m from Santanyí

The planned Goleta-Xalana solar park in Santanyí, Mallorca, is opening a route for local people, businesses and organisations to register interest in providing €2.7 million in funding. Endesa has launched an online portal for the scheme. The actual fundraise will begin only once construction of the park is complete.

The solar park is planned to have 25 MWp of installed capacity and produce about 42 GWh of renewable electricity each year. Endesa says that would match the annual electricity use of around 12,000 homes.

Loan terms and who gets first access

The local funding would take the form of a loan to project developer and owner Enel Green Power España. It is planned to run for three years, with interest paid every six months and the original capital returned when the term ends.

Returns would be linked to Spain’s three-year sovereign bond, plus 1.5%.

Residents and organisations based in Santanyí are due to get first access. Endesa then plans to extend the scheme to Ses Salines, Campos and Felanitx before opening it across the Balearics.

Endesa already operates five solar plants on Mallorca with a combined capacity of 56.6 MWp. Further projects are in development or going through the approval process.
