Mallorca's Son Bonet airfield in Marratxí faces another fight over a solar farm: a campaign group says it has collected more than 2,200 objections to airport operator Aena's plan. Son Bonet Pulmó Verd announced the tally on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, with backing from GOB, Xaloc and Mares del Pla. It tops the more than 1,300 objections the group gathered against an earlier plan in March 2021.

That project was shelved in 2023 after public opposition, but Aena has since put forward a new proposal. People living nearby and local groups object on planning, environmental, legal and social grounds. They say the open green area is used by people from Pont d'Inca, the Pla de na Tesa, Cas Capità, Sant Llatzet and Palma. They do not want it turned into an industrial site.

In June 2026, the Balearic Parliament unanimously urged the Balearic Government to ask Aena to withdraw the plan. Marratxí council has also opposed it. The groups now want the government to refuse the authorisation and declaration of public utility Aena has requested. They also want Aena to drop the project and look for sites already altered by human activity.
