Son Pardo trotting returns for €25,000 race

Trotting racing is back at Son Pardo in Palma after a summer closure to renew the track. The next major meeting is on Saturday 26 September from 11.15am. Its headline event, the Group III Grand Prix des Baléares Eqwin, carries 25,000 euros in prize money.

The Consell de Mallorca’s works moved summer racing to the Hipódromo de Manacor, where night meetings continued until 12 September. Son Pardo reopened at the end of August, bringing autumn fixtures back to daytime.

Major races return to Palma

The 26 September card also features the Critèrium Nacional, the Gran Premi Société du Trotteur Français and the Premi Aniversari Federació Balear de Trot.

Pedro Bestard, second vice-president and island councillor for Environment, Rural Affairs and Sport, said the renewed facilities were ready for some of the calendar’s most anticipated races in the coming months.

Fixtures through December

The Gran Premi dels 4 Anys follows on 12 October. The Critèrium dels 3 Anys and Critèrium dels 4 Anys are scheduled for 8 November, followed by the Memorial Bartomeu Estelrich on 22 November.

December brings the Critèrium dels Dos Anys and the Gran Premi Egües, closing the final part of the season at Mallorca’s racecourses.
