Spain tourism campaign wins award for quieter travel
Spain’s national tourism campaign has won a special travel-film prize in Tortosa, Tarragona, for promoting quieter destinations and sustainable travel. The Institute of Tourism of Spain, known as Turespaña, received the award at the Terres Travel Festival gala on 18 September. Its campaign aims to steer international trips towards inland areas and periods of lower demand.
The festival honours audiovisual work about travel, tourism and nature. Turespaña said the judges recognised the campaign’s creative approach and its focus on spreading tourism more widely across Spain.
Bárbara Couto, Turespaña’s deputy director general for international tourism marketing, collected the prize. She said the campaign supports Spain’s Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2030 by seeking travellers with responsible spending habits and sharing that spending more broadly between regions.
Launched in July 2025, the campaign also promotes slow travel, meaning travel at a slower pace. It was Turespaña’s first international campaign made in direct partnership with Spain’s autonomous communities.
Its first filming stage covered more than 60 locations across 12 autonomous communities in mainland Spain. MADRE produced the project, with IPG Mediabrands as the agency.
The Tortosa award adds to recognition won in 2026, including a Silver prize at the US International Awards and a finalist place at The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards.
