Ibiza specialist waits down 46 days, minister says
On Ibiza, in the Balearic Islands, patients wait 46 days less for a specialist appointment, health minister Manuela García says. Socialist MP Irantzu Fernández challenges that figure at a Balearic Parliament sitting on Tuesday, 6 October, saying García has not published the data.
García says patients on Ibiza also wait 19 days less to see a family doctor and two months less for surgery. She says waiting times have fallen at Formentera Hospital too, and credits an action plan for the reductions.
Fernández accuses García of making up the figures. She also urges the minister to visit Ibiza and explain how she will prevent further sexual assaults at Can Misses Hospital. García, in turn, says healthcare across the Balearic Islands was neglected during the previous legislative term and maintains that waiting lists on Ibiza have improved.
