Mallorca: Balearic 2027 spending cap rises €598 million
Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands get a €7,160.88 million spending ceiling for 2027: the regional government sets the limit in Palma, Mallorca, on Friday, 23 October 2026. That is €598 million, or 9.1%, above the current budget. It is not an approved budget for 2027.
What the draft budget covers
The draft includes a second €125 million package to help small businesses and self-employed workers with higher fuel costs. It also expects €63 million from the Spanish government towards free public transport, alongside a contribution from the Balearic government. Tax measures already announced by regional president Marga Prohens are expected to have an impact of €55 million.
Talks start next week
Economy minister Antoni Costa plans to meet parliamentary groups next week to seek agreement on both the spending ceiling and the budget. He says the government will discuss budget matters only.
Costa sees a deal with Vox as more likely than one with other groups: the government has passed two budgets with its support. Whether it can do so again remains open.
