Palma, Mallorca: A deal to send about €100,000 owed for sports centre work to an outside account, allegedly without a business partner’s knowledge, brings two men before a court. The Balearic Islands Public Prosecutor’s Office is seeking two years in prison for each man. The Second Section of the Provincial Court holds a pre-trial hearing on Thursday, 29 October 2026, at 09.30.

The case goes back to 2020, when the men were hired to work at the sports centre. About €159,000 remained unpaid when the job was finished, according to the prosecution. A payment schedule was agreed with the company running the centre, with the debt due to be settled in September 2022. By then, only two payments had been made: €27,700 and €22,000. About €100,000 was still owed.

Prosecutors say the men then agreed with the sports centre’s company to have the remaining money paid into an account that did not belong to their own firm. A third business partner did not know about the arrangement, they allege. Prosecutors are also seeking payment of the outstanding sum.
