Mallorca sports clubs competing nationally can apply for a share of €1.7 million: the Balearic government has opened a fund for teams across the islands for the 2026–2027 season. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport announced the grants in Palma on 8 October 2026. It says the money aims to help clubs meet competition costs and stay financially stable.

Which clubs qualify

Clubs must be listed in the Balearic Sports Organisations Register and compete in a national adult division. The fund covers up to three divisions in each sport. In football and futsal, clubs in the top national youth division can also apply.

Professional men’s and women’s football leagues in the First and Second Divisions are excluded, along with basketball’s ACB league, handball’s Asobal league and sports public limited companies. Eligible sports include athletics, cycling and swimming, as well as basketball, volleyball and water polo.

What the money can cover

Clubs can seek help with federation costs such as licences, mutual insurance and referees. They can also claim for hiring sports facilities for training and matches during competition and for up to one month of pre-season.

Certain payments to athletes and coaches qualify too, including minimum required contracts or equivalent support. The amount depends on the division and the number of licences in each sport.
