Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

On Mallorca, the man accused of stabbing María del Rosario up to 66 times told a police officer he had killed her, a jury at the Provincial Court in Palma hears on Monday, 5 October 2026. The officer found him covered in blood in a park near Can Pastilla, Mallorca, after a car crash. Prosecutors say the attack happened in December 2024 and that the couple’s young daughter was slightly injured in the crashes that followed.

What officers found

The officer told the court that the man said he had stabbed his partner while driving and had then crashed. Another officer found María del Rosario’s body in the front passenger footwell. Police found most of the blood on the passenger seat and a knife beneath a pedal on the driver’s side.

An officer who attended the post-mortem described stab wounds to María del Rosario’s head, neck, chest, back and hands. Her jugular vein and both lungs had been pierced. Officers said security footage and data from an electronic monitoring device placed the accused at the scene; footage supplied by a witness showed him leaving it.

The journey before the attack

Prosecutors say the man persuaded María del Rosario to go with him to collect their young daughter and asked her to leave her electronic monitoring bracelet at home. Police found it there. Because she was not wearing it, no alert was triggered.

After they collected the child, prosecutors say, he attacked María del Rosario as the car travelled along the Can Pastilla road. They say she died within minutes. The car was then involved in several crashes before the man fled and police found him in the park. He faces 27 years in prison.
