Mallorca: A 57-year-old woman leaves intensive care at Son Espases University Hospital in Palma on Friday after a man stabbed her in the abdomen. The attack happened at about 21.45 last Friday in a home on Carrer de l’Arxiduc Lluís Salvador, near the bullring. The man arrested over the stabbing is in provisional custody.

He called emergency services himself and said he had stabbed the woman. A Palma Local Police patrol reached the home first and gave her initial care. Paramedics then stabilised her and took her to hospital in a serious condition. Hospital sources say she has improved during the week.

The National Police’s Family and Women’s Assistance Unit has taken charge of the case. Investigators initially thought the man and woman were a couple, but that now appears not to be the case. Police hope she can clarify their relationship when she is well enough.
