Mallorca stepfather on trial over alleged child sex abuse

Palma, Mallorca: a man stands trial on Thursday, 5 November, accused of sexually abusing his partner’s daughter when she was 12 to 13 years old. Her mother tells the Provincial Court that he opened the bathroom door while the girl showered, undressed in front of her and made sexual comments.

The mother says she began to understand earlier incidents only after her daughter told her about the alleged abuse. Those included the man making the girl kiss him on the mouth.

According to prosecutors, the man took advantage of the mother’s absences to touch the girl sexually and threatened her to keep her silent. They are seeking 10 years in prison and a further 10-year order requiring him to stay away from her. An order barring contact and requiring him to stay away is already in place.
