Mallorca teen held after stick threats in Playa de Palma

Police arrested a minor in Playa de Palma, Mallorca, after reports that he threatened pedestrians with a stick and damaged a car at about 02.15 last Sunday. The National Police said several people alerted a patrol to a man carrying the stick, threatening people and hitting vehicles. Officers found him on the sand after several citizens had already been chasing him.

Police said the young man resisted when officers caught up with him, pushing them as he tried to get away. He was restrained and arrested.

Workers from nearby premises and other witnesses told officers they had seen him threaten and insult passers-by with the stick, including threats to kill them. They also said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

Witnesses said they saw him strike a vehicle, breaking its window. Officers found the stick, while the owner of the damaged car came forward to report the damage.

The minor was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, resisting police and disobeying officers.
