Stolen motorcycles: two minors investigated in Palma
Palma Local Police are investigating two minors after they were allegedly seen riding stolen motorcycles through Palma, Mallorca. The incident occurred at about 11pm last Wednesday, when officers on Calle Aragó spotted two motorcycles approaching from Pont d'Inca.
Police said the riders were travelling at speed, weaving through traffic and passing a red light. Officers followed them to Nelson Mandela Park, where both riders abandoned the motorcycles and tried to escape on foot.
One of the minors dropped his motorcycle and allegedly put up aggressive, active resistance before officers detained him. Police found that he had no driving licence and that the motorcycle was listed as stolen in National Police records. He is being investigated for unauthorised use of a vehicle, serious resistance and an offence against road safety.
The second minor ran through the park carrying his helmet and was pursued to Camí de Son Gotleu. He climbed over the perimeter fence of a home and entered its terrace, but an officer followed and detained him as he allegedly resisted.
The teenager told police he had stolen the motorcycle in the Son Ferriol area three months earlier and had never obtained a driving licence. He was taken to a medical centre for a bleeding forearm injury, apparently reopened while climbing the fence.
He is being investigated for vehicle theft, an offence against road safety and serious resistance to officers. Both minors were handed over to their parents, while the case files were sent to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and the motorcycles taken to the municipal depot at Son Toells.
