Mallorca derby: flares and chairs hit Palma bar
Flares and objects hit the Atlético Baleares bar in Palma, Mallorca, hours before Sunday’s derby against RCD Mallorca. The attack happened at about 09.50 on 11 October, at the corner of Sant Ignasi and Tomás Rullán streets. Witnesses told Palma Local Police that suspected radical RCD Mallorca supporters threw flares and objects including chairs and ashtrays.
A patrol searched the area and stopped a group of about 40 to 50 RCD Mallorca fans between Biniamar and Indalecio Prieto streets. There were no further incidents before the National Police took over. Officers recorded the suspected attackers’ identities, but the bar’s owner will not file a complaint.
The Segunda RFEF derby at the Estadi Balear kicked off at 12.00.
