In that area, crews dealt with 11 flooded roads, seven floods in buildings and garages, and seven sewer problems. Across Sant Josep as a whole, flooded roads accounted for 13 callouts, more than any other type of incident.

The other 20 incidents were elsewhere in the municipality. They included five cases of debris or other obstructions on roads, four fallen trees and three problems with electrical cables. Coastal spots including Cala de Bou, Port des Torrent, Cala Vedella and Cala Molí were also affected.

Sant Josep council activated its emergency plan shortly after 11.30am on Sunday, 18 October. Local police, council maintenance workers and Civil Protection volunteers took part, while the council coordinated with the Balearic Government’s emergency directorate through the 112 service, Ibiza firefighters and other agencies. Roig says things returned to normal within a few hours.
