Mallorca and Ibiza have military emergency teams on the ground as Storm Adam affects the Balearic Islands. On Monday, 19 October, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and People's Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo call Balearic president Marga Prohens to ask about the storm’s effects so far.

Prohens reports the calls in two posts on X on Monday afternoon. She says both leaders asked about the situation and expressed concern. She told Sánchez that Balearic authorities remained highly cautious because of unsettled weather and rain that had built up over recent hours.

She thanked Sánchez for the swift deployment of Spain’s Military Emergencies Unit, whose personnel travelled to Mallorca and Ibiza the previous night, and for continued contact with Spain’s State Meteorological Agency. Prohens says she and Feijóo also discussed the work of emergency teams already deployed across the islands, including the military unit. The storm is known in Spain as a DANA.
