Ibiza storm aid deadline moves to November 2026
Ibiza has until 30 November 2026 to submit the paperwork for storm-repair aid, after the Balearic Government approved more time. The extension covers damage caused by former Hurricane Gabrielle from 29 September to 3 October 2025 and by DANA Alice from 8 to 15 October 2025. It applies in Eivissa, Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Joan de Labritja.
Ibiza paperwork delayed
The Island Council of Ibiza had originally needed to file the supporting documents by 31 August 2026. It asked for an extension after administrative and technical problems slowed the handling of aid applications.
According to the case file, the Industry and Intervention services differed over how to interpret and apply the grant rules. Their criteria for processing claims and proving costs had to be reviewed and brought into line. The later deadline is intended to allow the outstanding cases to be completed and the approved aid to be accounted for correctly.
Menorca deal runs to May 2027
Menorca has also won extra time over repairs after the DANA of 15 August 2024. The agreement covers losses and damage in Es Mercadal and Alaior, as well as roads, paths and infrastructure managed by the Island Council of Menorca.
The Balearic Government’s initial contribution was €2.5 million, with a planned increase of up to €6.85 million during 2025 if the spending was properly accounted for. A later amendment added €900,000.
The agreement now runs for another five months, until 31 May 2027, while the deadline to submit accounts moves to 30 April 2027. The extra time will be used to establish whether the State or other institutions can fund part of the work already carried out. The municipalities involved have applied to the central government for grants, which could reduce the share paid by the island council and the Balearic Government and prevent the same work being funded twice.
