Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, stays largely settled on Friday as Storm Austen threatens waves of more than seven metres along Spain’s northern coast. The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued an orange wave warning for Asturias, Cantabria, the Galician provinces of La Coruña, Lugo and Pontevedra, and the Basque provinces of Guipúzcoa and Vizcaya.

Austen and its weather fronts will bring cloud and rain to Galicia, the Cantabrian coast and the Pyrenees. In Catalonia, Gerona has a yellow coastal warning, while Tarragona has a yellow warning for wind.

On Mallorca and across the Balearic Islands, high pressure keeps conditions generally stable. Cloudy spells could bring isolated showers, with mostly moderate westerly winds across the islands.
