Storm Adam triggers more than 100 emergency callouts across Formentera, mostly for flooding and pooled rainwater. On Wednesday, 21 October, crews are still pumping water from two car parks in es Pujols, Formentera. The Formentera Island Council has also shut access to Cala Saona, Formentera, because the area poses a safety risk.

Most incidents have been dealt with, but work to clear standing water continues. Pablo Gárriz, the Balearic government’s director general for emergencies and the interior, visits the island on Wednesday to see the storm’s effects.

Council president Óscar Portas says the priority is to finish dealing with the remaining problems and restore normality. After that, the council wants a technical review, with the relevant authorities, of whether parts of the island’s paths and infrastructure need more than routine repairs to reduce the impact of future heavy rain.
