Mallorca storms spark 16 call-outs and flood buildings
Mallorca storms have flooded buildings and businesses, brought down trees and led to 16 emergency call-outs since Wednesday midday.
By 08.00 on Thursday, the Balearic Islands Directorate General of Emergencies had logged 19 incidents. Sixteen were on Mallorca, including in Palma, Binissalem and Inca, while another was handled in Eivissa.
The incidents also involved water on roads, spills and leaks, two fires and items falling from urban structures.
Escorca-Son Torrella recorded the heaviest rainfall, with 73.6 litres per square metre. Binissalem received 59 litres and Lluc 54.6 litres per square metre.
Rainfall reached 34.2 litres in Llucmajor, 23.6 in Sa Pobla-Sa Canova, 22.9 in Palma and 21.8 at Llucmajor-Radar.
