Mallorca street racing alert: 33 offences, one arrest
Mallorca: police record 33 suspected offences and arrest a spectator after a street-racing alert at the Can Valero industrial estate in Palma. A call at 23.30 on Friday sends Palma Local Police to Quatre de Noviembre street, near number 17. There, officers find about 100 people watching dangerous driving manoeuvres.
Spectator accused of punching officer
Officers secure the area and call for reinforcements to check people’s identities. One spectator begins insulting them while holding a large cup, police say. When they ask the 30-year-old man for his documents and tell him to put the cup down, he makes threats and aggressive gestures.
Police say he punches an officer in the chest as they restrain his arm. He resists arrest and continues insulting officers while in custody.
Traffic checks uncover uninsured motorbike
Police record 25 breaches of local rules over disruption to neighbourhood peace. They also file eight traffic reports: four for expired vehicle inspections, and one each for damaged number plates, unapproved replacement parts, an open exhaust and parking on the pavement.
Officers take an uninsured motorbike with a foreign number plate to the Son Toells depot. Its rider has an expired, unstamped temporary plate in his rucksack. Police link that plate number to several speed-camera fines totalling 1,100 euros and attribute them to him. They send the case papers and the arrested man to the duty court.
