Mallorca student awards: 300 expected in Palma
Around 300 award-winning students are expected in Palma, Mallorca, on Wednesday: a ceremony at the Palma Conference Centre will recognise personal effort and academic achievement. It begins at 17.30. Balearic government president Marga Prohens and education and universities minister Antoni Vera will present awards for compulsory secondary education, known as ESO.
Other prizes recognise outstanding achievement in upper secondary school and advanced vocational training, as well as adult secondary education in Mallorca. Prohens will close the ceremony with words for the students.
Earlier, at 12.00, Prohens will attend the inauguration of the Universitat de Mallorca’s leadership team at the Balearic Bar Association. Pere Riutord will pledge to take office as the university’s first rector, then receive the rector’s medal from Prohens. The rest of the team will take office before Riutord and Prohens give closing remarks.
