Mallorca student awards: 300 expected in Palma
Palma, Mallorca, expects around 300 award-winning students on Wednesday, 4 November: they are due at the Congress Palace for a ceremony recognising personal effort and excellent school results. Balearic president Marga Prohens and education and universities minister Antoni Vera will present the awards from 17.30.
The prizes cover compulsory secondary education (ESO), as well as outstanding achievement in upper secondary education and advanced vocational training. Awards for adults studying at secondary level on Mallorca are also on the programme. Prohens will close the ceremony with words for the students.
Earlier, at 12.00, Prohens will attend the inauguration of the leadership team at the Universitat de Mallorca (UMAC). At the Balearic Bar Association, Pere Riutord will take office as the university’s first rector and receive the rector’s medal from Prohens. The rest of the team will then take office before Riutord and Prohens give closing remarks.
