Balearic student teams win €1,000 for business ideas
Six vocational student teams each win €1,000 for ideas aimed at business problems, from water loss to tourist flows. The Impulsa Balears Foundation and the Balearic Islands Ministry of Education and Universities announced the prizes from Palma, Mallorca, on 4 November. The winners emerged from 150 students working in 30 teams at the third Circular Innovation Hackathon.
The teams had 24 hours to develop proposals for challenges set by six companies. Teachers and professionals helped them work on issues including making better use of materials, logistics and the safety of energy infrastructure. Judges considered whether the ideas could work in practice, as well as their potential impact, technical quality and teamwork.
The winning teams are MCI, Els Sparkers, Avería 0, Sin Dormir S.L., SAIK and Mars. Each receives a winner’s diploma and help publicising its idea alongside the prize money. The announcements do not say whether any company plans to put a proposal into practice.
