Palma adds seven supported housing places for mental health

Palma now has seven new supported-housing places for people with mental health problems through the association Gira-Sol. The Balearic Islands Ministry of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care contracted the places in July 2026. Supported housing provides professional help with everyday life throughout the year, tailored to each person’s needs.

Nearly €768,000 has been allocated for the seven places until December 2028. They are part of Gira-Sol’s expansion of its facilities in Palma’s Llevant district.

Gira-Sol now has 43 residential places contracted by the ministry: 25 in supported housing and 18 in shared homes. The seven new places join six added in Sa Pobla and eight opened with the Estel de Llevant Foundation in Manacor, taking the number added in recent months to 21.

The wider network now has 147 places across supported housing and shared homes. Of those, 97 are supported-housing places and 50 are in shared homes, offering different levels of help as people’s circumstances change.
