Mallorca: PP and Vox block sustainability pact update

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

PP and Vox block José Antonio Caldés from explaining the current state of the Sustainability Pact to the Parliament of the Balearic Islands in Palma on Thursday. The Socialist group had requested the appearance by the regional government's director general for social dialogue. PSIB, MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca support the move, but the PP-Vox majority votes it down.

The same committee also approves a motion put forward by PP MP María Salomé Cabrera to recognise composer Manuel de Falla. Every group backs it apart from Més per Menorca, which abstains.

Parliament calls on the Balearic government to mark both the 150th anniversary of Falla's birth and the 80th anniversary of his death in 2026. It asks for cultural, educational and information activities to spread his legacy across the Balearics, while involving the islands' cultural, musical and artistic institutions.
