Mallorca syringe deal worth millions gets go-ahead

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

In Palma, Mallorca, the regional government approves a syringe supply deal worth up to eight point seven million euros on 2 October. The contract covers syringes for giving fluids, medicines and nutrition, and for taking biological samples. It also provides for equipment to be made available to Health Service centres.

Government spokesman Antoni Costa gave the maximum estimated value of the framework agreement after the cabinet meeting. The government says syringes are used across healthcare, from primary care to intensive care. Having the right supplies available, it says, matters for patient safety, effective treatment and the protection of healthcare staff.
