Mallorca taxi driver on trial over alleged sexual assault

In Palma, Mallorca, a woman tells a court on Monday that she was so frightened during a taxi ride home that she wet herself. She accuses the driver of sexually assaulting her in the early hours of 29 October 2023. He is on trial at the Balearic Islands Provincial Court.

According to the prosecution, the woman was drunk and sitting in the front passenger seat when the driver began touching her. He stopped so she could get out and dry herself. She says he then touched her genitals again, claiming to be helping her, and penetrated her with his fingers.

The woman told the court she did not resist because she was in shock and feared how the driver might react. Prosecutors are seeking a ten-year prison sentence and €10,000 in compensation.
