Mallorca allocated €5.7m as taxi and VTC aid tops €140k
Mallorca accounts for €5.7 million in Balearic transport aid: 1,059 grants go to the island, while taxi operators and chauffeur-driven hire vehicle operators across the islands are due more than €140,000. The Balearic government published the two latest payment decisions on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands. The aid is intended to ease rising fuel costs and the effects of the war in the Middle East.
Taxi businesses and self-employed drivers account for 520 grants worth nearly €112,000. Operators of chauffeur-driven hire vehicles, known as VTCs, account for 30 grants worth nearly €29,000. These payments are part of a wider package for transport businesses, including goods hauliers and bus operators. The government has so far authorised nearly 1,200 payments totalling €6.4 million.
Across the seven aid schemes, the government has received 1,440 applications covering 7,636 vehicles. It has approved nearly 1,300 applications worth close to €8.2 million. The schemes opened in July, and the government has set aside nearly €10 million in total.
