Mallorca: Teachers who report an attack should get immediate legal and psychological help, Balearic MPs say. In Palma, Mallorca, the Balearic Parliament’s Education and Universities Committee unanimously backs the call on Thursday, 8 October 2026. Socialist deputy Àlex Pitaluga puts forward the motion.

Faster help after an attack

The committee wants the Balearic government to review and strengthen its system for reporting attacks on teachers. It calls for quicker responses, better coordination between services and follow-up on each case. Legal and psychological help should be immediate, effective and easy to access whenever an attack is reported.

The government is also being asked to introduce programmes that involve pupils and families in building respect at school. More counsellors and social educators should help schools prevent and deal with conflicts.

Three schools in Maó

In a separate motion from Unidas Podemos deputy José María García, the committee calls for a fairer distribution of pupils across Maó’s three public secondary schools in the Balearic Islands. It wants to prevent pupils being segregated and IES Pasqual Calbó i Caldés being stigmatised.

The government is asked to explain how it allocates first-year secondary groups and the excellence stream in the final two years of secondary education across the three schools. The committee also calls for an urgent full refurbishment of IES Pasqual Calbó i Caldés, with a firm timetable and budget.
