Mallorca teachers face a strike call for 11 November 2026: the Sindicat Independent, Autònom i Unitari (SIAU) says it will urge members to join that day’s general strike. The decision follows a vote among members on action planned for the first term of the school year in the Balearic Islands.

In the vote, 69.2% preferred a strike with a fixed duration, while 30.8% wanted one without a set end. On timing, 59.6% chose 11 November and 40.4% preferred another day in the first term.

SIAU had raised the possibility of an indefinite strike at the end of the last school year. For now, it plans one day of action. The union will draw up demands on teachers’ working conditions and public education in the Balearic Islands, and has invited members to put forward proposals.

A longer strike remains possible, SIAU says. Its next steps will depend on how events develop and how the administration responds.
