In Palma, Mallorca, the Balearic Islands government plans temporary accommodation for pregnant women and mothers with children who are minors. The centre would be for those who need somewhere to stay because of social or financial difficulties, or a lack of family and social support. President Marga Prohens announced the plan in the Balearic parliament on Tuesday, 20 October, and said the government would put the centre out to tender before the end of the year.

Prohens also said the number of cycles available through the assisted reproduction service would rise from three to four. She expects the new Son Dureta to open in the first half of next year. She credited increased health spending with helping to recruit professionals, improve their working conditions and introduce new services.
