7.6% hydrogen peroxide in a Temu teeth-whitening pen: Spain is halting sales and recalling batch 20250620 of the Smilekit Teeth Whitening pen. The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices announced the move on Wednesday, 28 October, and told anyone with a pen from that batch not to use it.

French authorities found the 7.6% concentration in tests. For oral care products intended for the general public, the maximum permitted amount of hydrogen peroxide present or released is 0.1%. The agency says the pen, put on the market by French company France Effie Cosmeceuticals Technology, breaches EU cosmetics rules.

The agency learnt of the case through the European Safety Gate alert system. It has told Spain’s regional health authorities about the sales halt, withdrawal from the market and recall of the affected batch.
