Palma Airport tobacco seizure: 1,650 packs confiscated
A 25-year-old woman has been reported after 1,650 packs of cigarettes without the required tax stamps were found in her luggage at Palma Airport in Mallorca. The Civil Guard and the Customs Surveillance Service disclosed the case in Palma on 22 August 2026, following routine fiscal checks carried out last Tuesday.
Officers noticed the passenger heading quickly towards the terminal exit after collecting her luggage. When asked about the contents of her bags, she reportedly appeared nervous, gave evasive answers and said she had nothing to declare.
She was taken to customs for a detailed inspection, where officers found the cigarettes in her suitcase. The goods, valued at about €6,600, were confiscated.
The woman could face a fine of up to three times the value of the seized tobacco, or around €19,800.
