A train crash in Spain’s Toledo province forces the Socialist Party (PSOE) to cancel its events on Wednesday 28 October. The accident happened that morning between the stations of Mora, Orgaz and Urda. Two high-speed trains may be involved, the party says, but it is waiting for official information.

The cancellation comes in the run-up to the 29 November general election. The Spanish government has also cancelled ministers’ official engagements for Wednesday.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez says he is in constant contact with Transport Minister Óscar Puente and Castilla-La Mancha president Emiliano García-Page. Sánchez says he is “dismayed” by the “serious” accident and has offered his support to “all the victims”. The government has not yet released official figures for those affected.
