Mallorca’s Mari Carmen García remains missing after Wednesday’s high-speed train crash in Urda, in the province of Toledo. The young woman from Inca was travelling on one of the trains. On Friday, 30 October 2026, the Balearic government said it shared her family’s worry and uncertainty.

Government spokesman Antoni Costa said it wanted to support García’s family in any way it could. It has also offered emergency resources to the authorities caring for those affected by the crash and their families, though none have been requested so far.

The government issued a statement of condolence and thanked the emergency workers, medical staff and security forces involved in rescue and assistance. It said this was Spain’s third fatal rail accident in 2026, after crashes in Adamuz, in Córdoba province, and Gelida, in Barcelona province. The Balearic government has joined three days of official mourning, which began on Thursday and runs until Saturday.
