Mallorca: Inca mourns young woman killed in train crash
Inca, Mallorca, holds a minute’s silence at 11.30 am on Sunday, 1 November, for a young woman from the town who died in Wednesday’s train crash in Urda, in the province of Toledo. The town council has invited everyone to the Plaza de Santa Maria la Major to remember her and the others who died in the crash.
The council has offered its condolences to her family and loved ones. It has cancelled the official events planned for the second Fira d’Inca, apart from a tribute to older people and an event recognising and restoring the memory of Andreu París and Bernat Mateu.
The council says it is too late to cancel those two events because of the arrangements involved and the number of people taking part. They will go ahead without a festive tone and will include a remembrance of the woman. The Fira itself will also continue quietly, so that participants and small businesses are not disadvantaged.
