Mallorca’s railway enthusiasts mourn a deadly Toledo train crash: two high-speed trains collide on Wednesday, 28 October, killing many people. The Associació d’Amics del Ferrocarril de Balears says it is at a loss for words. The group offers its sympathy to the families of those killed and its support to railway workers.

The association says it backs investment in rail safety. It also seeks to reassure people about spending by Mallorca’s rail operator, Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM). The operator is increasing investment in trains, facilities and infrastructure, the group says. An ERTMS safety system is now being installed on Mallorca’s rail network.
